About The Position

The Lead Ob/Gyn physician will provide clinical leadership for the women’s health and prenatal programs at Neighborhood Health, an FQHC providing access to high quality care to the underserved. The physician will work with clinic staff at various sites to provide clinical expertise and will provide direct care to female patients at all stages of life. Emphasize that it is a 100% outpatient job at an FQHC with no call responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Graduation from accredited Medical school, completed residency in OB/GYN, and Board Certification in OB/GYN
  • Experience in OB/GYN medical practice
  • Current valid physician licensure in Virginia
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification.
  • Demonstrated commitment to caring for the underserved and advancing health equity
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prior FQHC experience a plus
  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality patient-centered gynecological care to our diverse patient population, with a focus on health equity and care for the underserved.
  • Oversee quality program in women’s health across all Neighborhood Health sites, with focus on decreasing disparities in maternal mortality, early access to prenatal care, improving cancer screening rates, and other preventive medicine projects.
  • Develop clinical protocols and policies related to Women’s Health and Prenatal Care.
  • Ensure that women’s health care is provided with the highest standards for patient safety and aligned with standards for The Joint Commission Ambulatory Accreditation.
  • Provide collaborative clinical leadership to our team of Midwives, Nurse Practitioners, Pediatricians, Internists and Family Medicine Physicians while providing expertise in care of complex Ob/Gyn patients.
  • Collaborate with Ob/Gyn contract physicians to ensure care is delivered according to Neighborhood Health and ACOG best practices and clinical guidelines.
  • Provide direct care to women for preventative well woman care, gynecological and family planning needs.
  • Provide outpatient comprehensive prenatal care and consultation in a maternal medical home model.
  • Counsel patients on safe sex practices and preventative medicine practices.
  • Order and analyze necessary tests, screenings, biopsies, scans, etc. to effectively diagnose a problem and order appropriate treatment as needed.
  • Perform viability and dating obstetric ultrasounds.
  • Perform outpatient gynecological procedures such as IUD insertion, Nexplanon insertion, Endometrial Biopsy, Colposcopy/Biopsy, and LEEP, and provide timely follow up as indicated.
  • Work as a member of multidisciplinary clinical team to provide comprehensive primary care.
  • Refer patients to other healthcare specialists as needed.
