About The Position

FirstHealth of the Carolinas – a private, not-for-profit healthcare network serving the mid-Carolinas - nationally recognized as a top 150 place to work in health care by Becker's Healthcare for 3 years in a row, is seeking a highly motivated and forward-thinking Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our established occupational medicine service with a strong emphasis on wellness. This unique practice model allows the APP to care for employees and covered dependents of local industries, creating an ideal opportunity for a PA/NP who enjoys a blend of primary care and urgent care in a relationship‑driven environment.

Requirements

• PA must be a graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program and have NCCPA certification.
• NP must be a graduate of a nurse practitioner education program and have national certification.
• Minimum 3 years of APP experience required, prior Occupational Health experience preferred.
• Must have a clean background, NC licensure, and NC DEA.
• DOT certification, and AHA BLS certification required, ACLS preferred.
• CAOHC and NIOSH certifications must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Other preferred qualifications include background in workers comp, working at employer sites, experience conducting veteran exams and/or NC disability exams.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre‑placement, routine, and exit physical examinations for employees.
• Provide timely and accurate diagnosis, treatment for employees and dependents, and management of work-related injuries and illnesses for employees.
• Advise employees on workplace health, safety, and injury‑prevention strategies.
