About The Position

The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients to maintain or restore patients to their maximum functional performance level and completes discharge planning.

Requirements

  • Required Education: Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Required Certifications and Licensures: Licensed Occupational Therapist by the Virginia Department of Health Professions

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Education: Masters degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Preferred Experience: Hospital-based experience

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and develops plan of care according to American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) guidelines.
  • Administers occupational therapy treatments appropriate to diagnosis and to AOTA guidelines.
  • Completes discharge planning according to AOTA guidelines by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferences.
  • Documents and charges for patient care services by charting in patient and department records according to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Protects patients, employees, and visitors by promoting infection-control and safety policies and protocols.
  • Meets productivity standards.
  • Ensures operation of equipment, follows manufacturer's instructions; troubleshoots malfunctions and reports the need for repair to supervisor.
  • Supervises Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, Rehab Aides, other support staff, and students
  • Other duties as assigned.
