Requirements
- Must be licensed as Occupational Therapist.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and possess a high level of capability with technology.
- Have the ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues.
- Classroom experience and college degree required.
- Must be able to assist in the protection of students and school property, assist the principal in fire and other emergency drills as required by law and School Committee policy.
Responsibilities
- Supports instructional programming by providing occupational therapy to students as required.
- Assessment and writing of reports to include recommendations for initial and three year re-evaluations.
- Will explain, demonstrate and monitor the recommendations suggested in the assessment reports to teachers and instructional assistants.
- Will suggest and order necessary adaptive equipment for student needs in activities.
- Will collaborate with the Physical Therapist and Speech and Language Pathologist and at times may engage in a co-treatment model.
- Consults with school based staff about student during structured meeting times such as student support teams.
- Implements targeted evidence-based therapeutic intervention plans and monitors and reassess the effects of the intervention through data collection.
- Adheres to federal and state legislation, regulation, and policies that affect occupational therapy practices.
- Teaches, monitors, and collaborates with educational personnel, community agencies, parents and students to increase understanding of students occupational practice and provide learning to the all stakeholders with supporting accommodations and modifications.
- Supports the MTSS model to provide screening and consult as needed.
- Working with Occupational therapy collogues to support a robust OT system of criteria and support.
- Schedules students into appropriate instructional groups.
- Assists with mobility, transitioning and personal care as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
