About The Position

This position is for an On-Call Security Guard (also known as a Mobile Advisor). Hours are not guaranteed. The role is used to support operations as needed to cover unscheduled call-outs, vacations, and other staffing gaps. Coverage may be required for the following shifts: Day Shift: 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Prime Shift: 3:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. Overnight Shift: 11:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. This position reports to the Safety, Security, and Transportation Manager and is an hourly, non-exempt role. The On-Call Security Guard is responsible for enforcing all applicable laws, rules, and policies authorized by the Safety and Security Department. In addition to maintaining a safe and secure environment, the position plays a key role in supporting Job Corps’ mission by modeling, mentoring, and monitoring positive behavior. Employees are expected to demonstrate and reinforce excellence in the eight Career Success Standards, including workplace relations and ethics, information management, communication, multicultural awareness, personal growth and development, career and personal planning, interpersonal skills, and independent living.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer 1 year of experience in a security department, law enforcement agency, military, or experience with security duties.
  • Prefer knowledge of riot and crowd control techniques and law enforcement procedures.
  • Must maintain CPR/FA Certification.
  • Ability to effectively relate to trainee population.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Position requires an ability to operate office equipment and drive an automobile.
  • In addition, must be able to interact with team members and maintain an effective working relationship with all facility staff and departments.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates and abides by Covenant Learning Solutions Values and operating principles.
  • Enforces all authorized laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Performs alarm and patrol duties in assigned areas to protect life and property against theft, misappropriation, vandalism, fire, flood, or similar disaster, suspicious acts and/or persons, and other unusual conditions.
  • Provide vehicle transportation support function under direction of supervisor in compliance with government, corporate and management directives.
  • Aids and assists visitors, students, and staff.
  • Performs building security and safety checks.
  • Receives complaints and makes appropriate preliminary investigations.
  • Maintains harmonious relationships with local law enforcement agencies.
  • Provides escort service as directed.
  • Investigates vehicular accidents at center.
  • Issues visitor passes and temporary vehicle permits.
  • Prepares written accident reports and maintains security log.
  • Enforces center pass policy.
  • Attends required in-service training sessions.
  • Participates in the disciplinary process as established at the center, including zero tolerance for violence and drugs.
  • Assist in Reception functions and maintaining the staff/student/visitor control area.
  • Act as switchboard operator as required.
  • Adheres to Covenant Learning Solutions Quality Assurance Plan.
  • Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills including personal responsibility and computer fluency.
  • Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property, adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
  • Cultivates and maintains a climate on center that is free of harassment, intimidation, bullying and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
