About The Position

Fenner Precision Polymers has an exciting internship opportunity with Fenner’s Information Technology Department, located in Lititz, PA. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and categorizing company-wide Excel spreadsheets that use ODBC connections to the ERP System and assist with rewriting SQL statements in a new reporting tool to consolidate and secure these types of business reports. This position is based on-site, 5 days a week in Lititz, PA. What will you do? As part of the Enterprise System Team, you will be responsible for collaborating with various department managers across the business, and their staff members, to capture an inventory of their Excel ODBC reports. The following guidelines will be used to determine what reports should be rewritten using Power BI or a new reporting tool or simply retired. Create a master list of all Excel reports to track the disposition of each as they are being analyzed. Identify the department, users, frequency of use, and the purpose of the reports. Determine the age requirements of the data being reported; real-time, near-time, or periodic. Assess whether any reports are duplicate or similar in nature and qualify for consolidated reporting. Develop a systematic approach for prioritizing the reports that need to be rewritten versus retired. Collaborate with IT personnel to rewrite and secure these reports using the appropriate reporting tool. Ensure the rewritten reports meet or exceed the prior report output by working with the business users to thoroughly test and validate before deploying. Create documentation that supports the evaluation process, the disposition of each report, and the report details such as owner and frequency of use. Complete a knowledge transfer to internal staff so they can continue the report rewrite process.
