About The Position

We are seeking qualified Onsite Multilingual Interpreters throughout the City of Chicago to provide in-person interpretation services. The ideal candidate will be fluent in English and at least one of the high-demand languages (e.g., Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Arabic, Burmese, Korean, Somali, and others), and will have professional interpreting experience in medical, legal, educational, or community environments.

Requirements

• Fluency in English and at least one other spoken language.
• Minimum of 1 year of professional onsite interpreting experience preferred.
• Medical, legal, or community interpreting certification (CCHI, NBCMI, or court certification) is a plus .
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Punctuality, reliability, and professionalism are essential.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Background check and TB test may be required based on the assignment.

Nice To Haves

• Medical, legal, or community interpreting certification (CCHI, NBCMI, or court certification)
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, confidential, and impartial interpretation between limited-English-proficient individuals and English speakers.
• Interpret consecutively and/or simultaneously as required in diverse settings.
• Adhere to professional ethics, including client confidentiality and impartiality.
• Support clients with cultural competence and sensitivity.
• Accurately complete daily logs, timesheets, and activity reports as needed.
