About The Position

The sleep center at the University of Colorado Hospital is seeking applicants for a full-time board-certified or board eligible sleep medicine physician. We are a multi-disciplinary sleep group focusing on providing comprehensive and state-of-the-art care to a diverse population, and there are tremendous opportunities to be a part of a growing academic program. The sleep center is a part of the Comprehensive Lungs and Breathing Program, which allows practitioners to work within a collaborative environment with related subspecialties. We currently have a 4-bed in-laboratory facility and a robust home sleep testing program. There are plans for continued growth of both the in-laboratory and home testing facilities, and this is an excellent opportunity to be a part of a program with rapid growth potential. About the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine Thank you for your interest in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Colorado! Our over 140 faculty are located across four sites\: the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, National Jewish Health, Denver Health, and the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System. Many seminal discoveries in pulmonary and critical care medicine occurred here in Denver, including advances in tuberculosis, interstitial lung disease, airway disease, cancer, and critical care. Requirements

  • Medical degree (MD/DO) from an accredited School of Medicine
  • Board certified or board eligible in Sleep Medicine
  • Completion of a Sleep Fellowship (ACGME accredited)
  • Ability to obtain license to practice as a physician in the State of Colorado with prescriptive privileges by the time of hire
  • Completion of Sleep Medicine accredited training with an appropriate medical specialty
  • Knowledge of standard inpatient and outpatient clinical operations and procedures
  • Ability to work independently, as well as serving as a team member
  • Skilled in the use of and EMR for patient charting and all standard office software
  • Ability to develop collaborative or independent research projects
  • Ability to provide educational knowledge and skills to various learners
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with learners, faculty, healthcare teams, administrators, community organizations, and donors
  • Current or past faculty appointment as an Assistant or Associate Professor in an academic medical institution

Nice To Haves

  • Appropriate background specialty prior to sleep medicine training
  • Prior experience in the development of a sleep center in an academic setting
  • Accomplishment in basic, clinical, health services, translational, or educational research
  • General Internal Medicine knowledge and skills

Responsibilities

  • Evaluation of patients in the clinical setting
  • Interpretation of both home and in-lab sleep studies
  • Collaboration in education and research efforts of the sleep program
