About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, assists in scheduling, assigning and monitoring the work of others in the continuous safe and efficient operation of a combustion turbine heat recovery steam generator and combustion turbine generating plants in both simple and combined cycle modes. EXAMPLES OF WORK: · Assists in scheduling and assigning the work of others to ensure adequate coverage for the continual, safe and efficient operation of an electric power plant. · Assists in monitoring work performed by others to ensure it is being performed safely, efficiently and in a cost effective manner within established parameters. · Issues work and/or test permits in the form of tags affixed to all required equipment to be taken out of operation for manufacturer, contractor, repair and maintenance personnel and approves their removal upon satisfactory completion of the work. · Performs regular visual, aural, olfactory and tactile surveillance of plant operating conditions and equipment to identify maintenance and repair needs, safety violations, cleanliness issues and other potential operational problems. · Ensures that periodic routine tests of equipment are performed in accordance with standard operating procedures and manufacturer’s instructions. · Delivers/supervises training to promote continuous quality and productivity improvement including but not limited to classroom, simulator, and OJT. · Trains others in safety practices and procedures. · Monitors implementation of procedures and training schedules to ensure effective human resource utilization and compliance with safety rules, governmental regulations and organizational standards. · Researches job-related technical materials, and participates in continuing education activities to maintain up-to-date knowledge of electric power plant technology and communicates pertinent information to others. · Oversees the proper storage and distribution of fuel and the transfer of fuel from vessels to shore tanks to ensure adherence with required operational and safety rules and procedures. · Performs other job-related work as assigned. · Assists in scheduling and assigning the work of others to ensure adequate coverage for the continual, safe and efficient operation of a combined cycle generating plant. · Delivers/supervises training to promote continuous quality and productivity improvement including but not limited to classroom, simulator, and OJT of a combustion turbine and combined cycle generating plant. · Monitors implementation of procedures and training schedules to ensure effective human resource utilization and compliance with safety rules, governmental regulations and organizational standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Eight (8) years’ experience in a power generating facility, paper mill, military facility or similar facility.
  • Experience must include a minimum of three (3) year in simple cycle combustion turbine or combined cycle generating plant.
  • Experienced in combined cycle generating plant systems and theories involved in the operations of a modern combustion turbine electric generation plant including but not limited to\: troubleshooting of process equipment used in simple cycle combustion turbine or combined cycle generating plants, specifically, but not exclusively GE 7FA+e.
  • A valid driver’s license may be required prior to employment and may need to be maintained during employment in this classification.
  • Employee must complete the Coast Guard’s educational requirements for person in charge during fuel transfer operations at the request of JEA.
  • This position requires that employees be in compliance with JEA procedure ES A0200 A0101 RS 628 Screening Personnel Risk Assessments (pre-hire for FACTA designations; pre-hire and recurring for CIP designations).
