About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: Boston Medical Center Brighton is excited to announce the Operating Room (OR) Nurse Transition Program 2026. Boston Medical Center Brighton has implemented an Operating Room Nurse Transition Residency program that incorporates the ‘Nurse of the Future’ Core Competencies. Nurses will be hired into the organization as a small cohort. The Transition Program Cohort will attend nursing orientation, matriculate though the operating room residency curriculum and remain together until they sit for a final exam for certification through the Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses (AORN). This program will provide the nurse specialized hybrid learning opportunities that include online modules, classroom didactic, hands-on skills and simulation lab sessions with clinical preceptorship in the operating room. Position: Operating Room (OR) Nurse Transition Residency Department: Operating Room Schedule: 40 hours, Monday-Friday 7am-3pm during the orientation period (The specific shift will be determined near the end of orientation)

Requirements

  • Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
  • Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Requires current basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • Basic computer proficiency is inclusive of the ability to access, enter, and interpret computerized data/information.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to facilitate communication with various members of the health care team, patients, and families.
  • Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work.
  • Analytical ability to solve clinical nursing issues and conduct quality improvement projects.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN (preferred)
  • Multilingual skills (beyond that of English) in languages appropriate to the patient populations served by the Medical Center preferred.
  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification is preferred for certain practice areas.
