Job Scope The Operational Excellence Engineer is part of the Business Transformation Office and drives process improvements across non-manufacturing functions (e.g., supply chain, R&D, logistics, IT). The role optimizes data and information flow, embeds standard work, and deploys automation to increase throughput, reduce cost, and improve customer experience. Partnering with Transformation leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, this role converts insights into defined initiatives with timelines, resources, and metrics, leading implementation through go-live to ensure value realization. The role manages 3–5 concurrent initiatives supported by matrixed subject matter experts and leads cross-functional transformation but does not manage day-to-day operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; technical field preferred.
  • 5–8+ years experience in operational excellence, transformation, process improvement, or similar roles.
  • Experience applying Lean/CI tools to solve real business problems with measurable results.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience managing large datasets and mapping complex processes.
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems (ERP, BI, PPM); experience with SAP S/4HANA, Microsoft Project, or Power BI preferred.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic goals with tactical execution.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, Visio).

Responsibilities

  • Analyze business processes to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities using Lean and CI tools.
  • Focus on non-manufacturing processes (e.g., inventory, RA/QA workflows, product development, data management) emphasizing data flow, systems utilization, and process automation.
  • Gather and analyze data from ERP, BI, and PPM systems and translate insights into recommendations.
  • Lead workshops, conduct root cause analysis and evaluate cost-benefit of proposed solutions.
  • Develop project plans including scope, timeline, resources, and success metrics.
  • Lead/support initiatives through hand-off to process owners.
  • Partner with leadership to establish governance, KPI frameworks, dashboards, and reporting to drive accountability, track results, and evaluate effectiveness.
  • Present project updates, risks, and performance metrics to leadership.
  • Embed change management practices to support adoption and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with departments where processes intersect with enterprise systems to enable business process automation, system enhancements or new technologies.
  • Support capability development through training, problem-solving tools, and standard procedures.
