The World Bank Group’s Digital & AI Vice Presidency (Digital VPU) leads global efforts to accelerate digital transformation and responsible AI adoption in developing countries. The VPU integrates operational, advisory, and knowledge capabilities to support countries in advancing digital access and affordability, digital infrastructure, digital public infrastructure, and AI readiness. Within the Knowledge Bank, the Digital Access Solutions and Impact team (WKDAX) leads work on foundational digital infrastructure and affordability, with a focus on knowledge generation, solution design, and the scaling of proven approaches across regions and country programs. WKDAX is seeking a Digital Analyst to support implementation of the Digital Access knowledge agenda, with a strong focus on sector analysis and research and knowledge development, curation, synthesis, dissemination, and application in country programs and projects. The Digital Analyst will work closely with sector and team leads, industry specialists, regional teams, and partners to support industry and market research, the implementation of the digital access knowledge program and will also contribute to front office and analytical support. The position will be based in Washington, D.C., with occasional travel as needed.

Requirements

  • At least bachelor’s degree (graduate degree preferred)
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in analytical, research, consulting, policy, or knowledge- focused roles, including experience in international organizations, development institutions, consulting firms, or related environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as sound business judgment to identify issues and present creative and practical solutions.
  • Strong quantitative/numerical skills with substantial experience in interpreting financial or economic information and developing and analyzing Excel-based models and indexes.
  • Highly proficient in the use of Excel (PowerBI, Tableau, STATA, R, or Python a plus), PowerPoint, and Word. Proficiency in the use of Bloomberg or Capital IQ is a plus.
  • Experience preparing senior level briefing materials and presentations, including structured slide decks with concise and attractive visuals, to support management discussions and Board level reporting
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, work autonomously, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills and the ability to work successfully in multicultural teams and across regions with demonstrated team spirit and responsiveness.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; knowledge of Spanish or French would be a plus.
  • Keen interest in emerging markets, development, and the digital sector.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct industry and market research to inform knowledge products and operational engagement, including sector mappings, industry trends, and relevant policy and regulatory developments.
  • Stay current on industry, technology, and policy developments and contribute new knowledge to global and regional teams.
  • Develop reusable knowledge products, including knowledge notes, playbooks, templates, and case studies related to digital access and infrastructure.
  • Curate digital access–related materials in the Knowledge Bank platform (K 360), ensuring consistency, quality, and usability of knowledge assets.
  • Work with IFC teams across regions and departments to promote new business and innovation and support transaction processing and supervision.
  • Disseminate knowledge products across internal and external channels and contribute to knowledge exchange with partners and stakeholders.
  • Synthesize complex quantitative and qualitative analysis into clear, compelling, and attractive analytical tools (such as graphics and dashboards) and presentations that effectively communicate insights to diverse stakeholders.
  • Prepare concise, attractive, and effective presentations and synthesis notes for knowledge events, including webinars, workshops, and roundtables.
  • Support the organization of knowledge events, including logistics, preparation of materials, dissemination of lessons learned, and capture of reusable insights.
  • Contribute to the development and reporting of Digital Access sector priorities for senior management, including drafting briefs, presentations, and background materials.
  • Prepare effective analytical presentations and briefs using data from multiple sources to support internal decision-making.
  • Support coordination, documentation, and follow-up of meetings, including tracking decisions and action items.
