About The Position

The Operations Area Director - Kauaʻi is a senior leadership position responsible for ensuring consistent, high-quality operations across all Kauaʻi Clubhouses. This role serves as the primary operational leader for the region and provides direct oversight, coaching, and performance management of Kauai Clubhouse Directors. The Operations Area Director - Kauaʻi is accountable for strengthening systems, improving operational consistency, empowering Kauai Clubhouse Directors and resolving issues locally. Incumbent will provide leadership of financial operations, including budgeting, resource stewardship, and compliance reporting, to ensure fiscal integrity and drive operational excellence. This position is empowered to make day-to-day operational decisions for Kauaʻi Clubhouses within established organizational policies and standards. This role works closely with the Director of Operations to uphold organizational standards while ensuring strong, effective site-level leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in youth-serving or nonprofit organizations, including multi-site leadership or management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and manage managers or site-level leaders
  • Strong operational, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience overseeing budgets, compliance, and operational systems
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail) as well as experience with Zoom and Microsoft Teams
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
  • Proven leadership as a manager, with the ability to build teams and motivate, mentor, guide and direct staff.
  • Exceptional organizational, operational, problem solving and management skills. Sound financial skills.
  • Highly developed analytical skills and an ability to think and act strategically. ∙ Proven record of being self-motivated and goal-directed and high ethical standards. ∙ Strong interpersonal, listening, presentation, and communication (oral & written) skills. ∙ Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and with diverse donor constituencies Possess knowledge of grants from public and private sources and ability to formulate grant requests as they relate to core Clubhouse programs.
  • Ability to work with youth, including “at-risk” youth. Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems.
  • An operations‑focused leader skilled in supporting organizational fundraising efforts through strategic planning, cross‑departmental coordination, and strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic community and business partnerships.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and advance relationships with the Sr. Management Team, Board of Directors and Staff to help them achieve their fundraising goals. Proven track record in personally cultivating relationships with prospective and current donors and in securing major philanthropic gifts.
  • Must pass a background check, drug screening, and complete all applicable pre-employment requirements to meet organizational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide regional operational leadership to ensure consistent implementation of BGCH policies, procedures, and standards across all Kauaʻi Clubhouses
  • Serve as the primary point of operational support and escalation for Kauaʻi Clubhouse Directors
  • Monitor site performance, identify trends or risks, and proactively address operational challenges. Conduct regular site check-ins and performance reviews with Clubhouse Directors.
  • Ensure clubhouses are operating in alignment with organizational goals, grant requirements, and compliance expectations
  • Support DOO in Kauai Clubhouse budget development with the CFO, COO, and/or Accounting Lead, and leadership staff at clubhouse and admin levels.
  • With DOO, oversee the identification and evaluation of opportunities to improve program effectiveness based on participation and achievement of stated goals; recommends modifications to improve program performance, as appropriate.
  • Works collaboratively with Data and Grants Manager, Director of Teen Initiatives, Human Resources Director, Facilities Manager, Director of Development and Finance Team to ensure cross-communication and standards are upheld from the day-to-day club operations
  • Play a critical role in ensuring quality programs, curriculum and training exist throughout Kaua’i and will assist the DOO, executive management and clubhouse leadership in developing creative, enriching activities for daily programs.
  • Partner with the Director of Operations and other external stakeholders as needed to support organization-wide initiatives and operational priorities
  • Directly supervise, coach, and support all Kauaʻi Clubhouse Directors
  • Lead goal-setting, performance evaluations, and ongoing leadership development for Clubhouse Directors
  • Provide regular feedback, guidance, and corrective coaching to strengthen leadership effectiveness and accountability
  • Promote a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement across Kauaʻi sites
  • Support Clubhouse Directors in managing staffing challenges, operational issues, and complex situations
  • Ensure consistent operational systems, processes, and practices are implemented across all Kauaʻi Clubhouses
  • Maintain oversight of site budgets to ensure alignment with approved plans, grant requirements, and organizational expectations. Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, resource management, and compliance reporting, to ensure fiscal responsibility and operational efficiency
  • Work collaboratively with Clubhouse Directors and Facilities Manager to address facility needs, maintenance priorities, and safety concerns, keeping the Director of Operations informed. Identify emerging operational or safety risks and intervene early to prevent escalation.
  • Support adherence to safety protocols, transportation procedures, and risk management standards
  • Assist in identifying operational improvements and efficiencies that strengthen site-level performance.
  • Provide final input on hiring, discipline, and termination decisions for Kauaʻi Clubhouse Directors
  • Lead performance management processes for Clubhouse Directors, including goal-setting, evaluations, and improvement plans as needed
  • Hold Clubhouse Directors accountable for operational performance, compliance, and leadership expectations
  • Support succession planning and leadership development within Kauaʻi Clubhouses
  • Partner with Clubhouse Directors to achieve site-level operational goals, including but not limited to Average Daily Attendance (ADA), Registered Members, 104 Club participation, NYOI outcomes, and other established performance metrics
  • Regularly monitor progress toward site-level goals and identify early indicators when a Clubhouse is not on track to meet expectations
  • Work with Clubhouse Directors to develop, implement, and adjust strategic action plans when performance metrics fall below targets
  • Actively coach Clubhouse Directors to analyze data, identify barriers, and implement corrective strategies to improve outcomes
  • Hold Clubhouse Directors accountable for executing agreed-upon strategies and demonstrating measurable progress toward goals
  • Escalate persistent performance concerns to the Director of Operations with clear analysis, recommended actions, and documented follow-up
  • Regularly monitor progress toward site-level goals and identify early indicators when a Clubhouse is not on track to meet expectations
  • Analyze and leverage data metrics to drive strategic, data‑informed decisions that enhance operational effectiveness, strengthen program impact, and support continuous improvement across the Club sites
  • Step into direct youth programming only when critically necessary (e.g., severe staffing shortages or emergency situations), while maintaining primary focus on leadership and operations
  • Participate in organizational meetings, trainings, and initiatives as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful achievement of BGCH’s mission and goals
  • Lead strategic community engagement efforts by cultivating strong partnerships, representing the organization in collaborative forums, and fostering positive relationships that support program success and organizational visibility
