About The Position

The Operations Manager, Storeroom & Airport and Logistics plans, directs, and assists with the oversight of the Central Stores, campus logistics, Maintenance Repair and Operations (MRO) procurement, and airport operations at OXD. This role ensures operational efficiency, regulatory compliance (FAA, OSHA, and state/federal standards), fiscal stewardship, and high levels of customer service. The Manager establishes performance standards and accountability measures that ensure uninterrupted campus support and aviation safety. Work Schedule: Primarily Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; requires the ability to work evenings/weekends and respond to emergencies as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field plus a minimum of 3 years of full-time experience managing staff or contractors in support/customer service operations, or
  • Associate’s degree in a relevant field plus a minimum of 5 years of verifiable full-time experience managing staff or contractors in relevant operations, or
  • A minimum of 10 years of verifiable full-time experience managing staff and/or contractors in support services or customer service operations relevant to the position.
  • Procurement Expertise: Proven ability to evaluate RFPs and manage contracts resulting in measurable cost savings.
  • Aviation & Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with FAA/DOT regulations, fuel farm safety, and airfield maintenance standards.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Exceptional ability to manage high-volume caseloads and technical records with strict accuracy.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with inventory management systems, purchasing platforms, and Microsoft/Google suites.
  • Communication: Ability to act as a liaison between local operations and external state/federal agencies.

  • APPA Leadership in Educational Facilities CEFP credential.
  • Prior experience within a Higher Education environment, specifically at Miami University.
  • Active or prior certifications in Aviation Fuel Operations, Hazardous Material Handling, or Emergency Medical Services.

Responsibilities

  • Logistics & Warehouse Management: Oversees Central Stores, inventory control, and receiving dock operations. Serves as or manages buyer, exercising delegated authority to secure stock and non-stock materials, coordinating with vendors to prevent service disruptions.
  • Airport Operations (OXD): Directs daily activities at OXD, ensuring strict compliance with aviation regulations. Oversees fuel procurement, quality testing, and hazardous material handling.
  • Contract & Vendor Oversight: Reviews and adds input on RFPs, contracts, and service-level agreements (SLAs). Monitors contractor performance to ensure cost-effective solutions and operational readiness.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Safety: Ensures all operations meet FAA, OSHA, and DOT standards. Maintains documentation for audits and safety inspections.
  • Process Improvement: Applies Lean principles and operational analysis to identify gaps, implement project improvement plans, and enhance service quality.
  • Administrative: Manages personnel functions including hiring, training, and performance evaluations. Provides technical guidance to staff on procurement and logistics software.
