The Manager Operations is responsible to manage unit operations, including unit generation, scrubber, environmental emissions controls, and material handling and some routine maintenance of the station. The Manager Operations is responsible for station work execution processes, ensuring skill sets are developed to provide multi-skilled production resources in support of the Operating Model principles. The Manager Operations plays a critical role in ensuring compliance and work activities are completed in accordance with the plan. The Manager Operations works with the Manager Maintenance to ensure that barriers to efficient work completion are identified and addressed. As a member of the station management team the Mgr Operations provides leadership and accountability for station safety, environmental, reliability and budget compliance. Provides leadership and direction to the production staff to ensure accomplishment of overall station performance goals and objectives. Counsels, trains, evaluates, develops, guides and assists assigned personnel relative to job performance and duties. Acts as a liaison with business, charitable and political leaders, foundations, organizations and other external stakeholders of the station and corporation. Reviews performance and budget data for improvement opportunities or noticeable deviations for correction. Provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of best practice routines, work process improvement, maintenance and operation procedures. Develop and maintain positive working relationships between departments and internal customers. Communicate and lead the commitment to the applicable Operating Model within the Regulated and Renewable Energy Operations Department. Meet station environmental, health and safety objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree AND 5 years minimum required related work experience
  • In lieu of degree and experience listed above, Highschool/GED AND 13 years of minimum required related work experience

Nice To Haves

  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Working knowledge of the overall operating fundamentals and principles of generating station systems, equipment and processes, including coal-fired generation, flue-gas desulphurization (FGD) and material handling.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills
  • Financial knowledge and skills including ability to analyze data
  • Strong computer skills including ability to use various applications
  • 5 years of previous power generation supervisor experience
