ROLE SUMMARY The Drop Roller Machine Operator is responsible for operating the drop rolling process which makes a chocolate molding of centers used in the beginning stages of the sugar shelling process. The role will ensure the efficient batching of quality products (including probiotics) in the required quantities and operate/change over specified machinery in the assigned area. The operator must ensure operational conformance, product quality, and continuous improvement. This person will need to be a strong communicator and a team player to support site objectives. This person will also be responsible for following customer specifications, maintaining 5s, paperwork, general manufacturing practices(GMPs), sanitations, safety, and reporting inefficiencies while keeping an accurate inventory.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED and/or equivalent education.
  • Demonstrate cooperative behavior with co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
  • Basic math, communication, computer, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to convert measurements into weight.
  • Knowledge of linear measurement, percentages, and ratios.
  • Ability to communicate in English and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with computer systems.
  • Must have mechanical skills to troubleshoot and/or make adjustments as necessary to ensure a quality product.
  • Work well under pressure, able to meet multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Report food, employee safety, and quality issues to their department lead and/or supervisor.
  • Following allergen procedures as required per the sanitation checklist.
  • Follow allergen changeover verification and check off all assigned primary and secondary tools, tanks, and equipment.
  • Complete production pre-op/start-up inspections.
  • Review formulas for correct amount and identification, and start the weighing process.
  • Weigh and record weight and lot code on BPR and initial along with QA.
  • Take corrective action in solving problems to root cause level.
  • Perform and/or works with Maintenance to complete equipment changeover and set-ups.
  • Maintain accurate records of batch numbers and items on a track log report.
  • Perform entire shift support documentation in a quality matter.
  • Perform tasks such as magnet strainer checks, inspection of items used, item numbers, etc.
  • Demonstrate high degree of ownership for product quality: Performs all standard checks and other quality related duties.
  • Understand production schedules, production computer systems, batch order instructions and production inventories.
  • Validate transfers, consume correctly, and keep an accurate inventory.
  • Meet or exceed efficiencies while communicating inefficiencies.
  • Support and follow the direction of the Department lead(s) and/or Supervisor(s).
  • Make sure retain is available when producing an item number, if expired, make a new retain and provide to QA for approval
  • Document all production, quality, safety, and sanitation reports accurately and clearly.
  • Follow all general manufacturing practices (GMPs).
  • Report scrap according to procedure.
  • Present continuous improvement ideas to their supervisor or department lead.
  • Turn batch order packets into supervisor upon completion of scheduled production.
  • De-web centers in a conventional pan until the product is smooth.
  • Sift smoothed centers into boxes, weigh, and seal.
  • Fill tanks with chocolate and operate to and from centers.
  • Send finished goods to the warehouse with proper passport label.
  • Fill out IPIS and pallet ID sheets and attach to all products produced off of the drop roller.
  • Perform other duties as assigned lead/supervisor.
