A Brief Overview Responsible for a variety of highly skilled duties associated with the operation of specialized equipment to assist physicians in the examination and treatment of diseases of the eye. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Ophthalmic imaging 1-3 years
  • Ability to communicate written and oral with physicians, other clinical Associates, and patients and their families both verbally and in writing.
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to successfully interact with physicians, other Associates and patients and their families.
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution and problem solving.
  • Knowledge of medical office practices and medical terminology.
  • Ability to operate automated and non-automated ophthalmic equipment.
  • High attention to detail demonstrated in clinical and contractual settings.

Responsibilities

  • Measures visual acuity at distance and near as appropriate for age, and document accurately.
  • Performs sensory testing, color vision testing.
  • Obtains and records accurate patient/family chief complaint, medical, ocular, family history, medications, allergies.
  • Assists in minor outpatient surgical procedures.
  • Operates imaging equipment and other ophthalmic equipment and performs routine instrument maintenance, appropriate clean and stock ophthalmic examination rooms with supplies.
