Position Summary: Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Physician Assistant. - Boca Raton, FL. This position plays a vital role in providing high quality care in a manner that is respectful, fiscally responsible, and developmentally appropriate. We combine a wide range of medical, counseling, preventative, and wellness services to help students remain healthy and succeed academically.

Requirements

  • A master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization required.
  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program is required.
  • Must hold current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Must be licensed (or license-eligible by date of hire) as a Physician Assistant in the State of Florida.
  • Must have or obtain BLS certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Must practice under an approved supervisory agreement in accordance with Florida law.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced care to patients under the direction of a physician with a collaborative agreement if indicated.
  • Promote wellness and effectively counsel patients on preventative care.
  • Ability to work independently in partner clinic, which includes phlebotomy, point of care testing, and vaccinations.
  • Assess and treat patients for urgent care visits, general primary care as well as routine physical exams.
  • Provide both acute and chronic medical care to patients.
  • Order and correctly interpret appropriate diagnostic studies to assist with management.
  • Develop an appropriate assessment and treatment plan consistent with findings and utilize medication and other treatment modalities appropriately.
  • Use evidence-based strategies to guide diagnosis and treatment.
  • Practice within the scope of privileges and licensure.
  • Refer patients for additional consultation, evaluation, and treatment when clinically indicated.
  • Assist in providing basic first aid and initial triage services during emergency situations, including on-campus mass-casualty incidents, as needed
  • Comply with federal, state, and university regulations and statutes, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Foster and maintain a collaborative, engaging, and positive work environment for all students and staff.
  • Participate in assessment, accreditation, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in activities, both internal and external to SHS, to champion the health of the college student population, advance the mission of SHS, and support the missions of the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
