The Optical team at Lakewood Health System provides comprehensive optical retail and clinical services that support patient vision care. The team works closely with providers and clinic staff to ensure patients receive high-quality eyewear solutions, efficient service, and a positive care experience. The department supports optical dispensing, patient education, insurance coordination, and revenue cycle activities related to optical services. The Optical Supervisor leads the daily operations of Lakewood’s optical services while supporting staff, patient care, and operational performance to deliver a positive patient experience and high-quality optical services.

Requirements

  • Completion of an Opticianry Training Program
  • American Board of Opticianry (ABO) Certification
  • National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE) Certification
  • 3–5 years of experience in optical operations, clinic optical services, or retail optical environments

Responsibilities

  • The Optical Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the optical clinic and retail optical services while supervising optical staff and ensuring efficient workflows.
  • This role functions as a working optician and/or optical technician, assisting patients with eyewear selection, fittings, and adjustments while supporting billing accuracy, insurance coordination, and revenue cycle activities.
  • The supervisor collaborates with clinic leadership to ensure operational efficiency, financial performance, and a positive patient experience.
