About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Jr Optics Technician for the Space Force Range Contract. Typical Duties Inspect, troubleshoot, adjust, align, repair, refurbish Optics Prime Mission Equipment (PME) and associated support equipment using optical test and measurement workstations in a Lab environment. Perform Depot related repairs and refurbishments on Optics utilizing mechanical drawings, electrical/electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering sketches, Technical Orders, and vendor/shop manuals. Provide support to Optical equipment installations, modifications, and removal projects. Perform Preventive DEPOT Maintenance (PDM), Unscheduled DEPOT Level Maintenance (UDLM) and Emergency DEPOT level Maintenance (EDLM) on Optics Range PME Perform other duties/cross utilization as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend mechanical drawings, electrical/electronic schematics, wiring diagrams and cable assembly drawings and engineering sketches, technical orders, and vendor/shop manuals.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently of direct supervision or technical personnel.
  • Ability to perform technical repair duties of an Intermediate complexity.
  • Strong organizational skills with specific emphasis on attention to detail.
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Two (2) or more years of applicable experience in Optics and Optical theory or applicable range experience.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures pertaining to job site safety, security, and timekeeping.
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD NAC (Local National Agency Check) background check, which includes U.S. Citizenship.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to perform system diagnostics, install and troubleshoot equipment software and hardware, preferred.
  • Training and certifications in the use of Optical analysis and design software including (but not limited to) Durango Interferometric analysis utilizing LUPI, ZYGO Metro Pro Optikos Op Test Lab View Imatest preferred.
  • Factory training in Cinetel Telescope Repair and Schneider Lens Repair preferred.
  • Proficient using Electro-optical test equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of Optical theory, Interferometry, Wave Theory and Aberrations.
  • Knowledge of Environmental and OSHA Standards.
