About The Position

University of Minnesota Physicians seeks an Optometrist at 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week) who will provide comprehensive eye care and ophthalmic consultations as part of the University of Minnesota’s Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Neurosciences. Department practice site will mainly be in Eagan and the University of Minnesota Twin Cities medical campus. Practice Details: Provide comprehensive optometric care as part of a multi sub-specialty ophthalmology clinic Perform comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosing ocular disease and refractive error, prescribe corrective lenses and provide treatment including therapeutic drugs Provide consultations regarding neuro-ophthalmic disorders or concerns Participate in educational activities including work with optometry and medical students, ophthalmology residents, lecturing at department events, and possible research collaborations Practice site Eagan & University of Minnesota campus, as well as community-based satellite clinics. Fully integrated Electronic Medical Record (EPIC) Support staff including ophthalmic assistants and technicians Full array of imaging tools including: OCT, visual field, topography, autorefractor, ERG, anterior segment and fundus photography, B-scan No weekend or overnight call coverage is required

Requirements

  • A qualified candidate will be a graduate of a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree program
  • Candidate must be licensed or have the ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Optometry licensure
  • DPA/TPA Certification
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain DEA certification
  • Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with complex ocular and systemic disease and neuro-ophthalmic disorders
  • Experience in urgent eye care
