About The Position

Under direct supervision, position is responsible for pre/post-award activities with grant and contract proposals and awards, ensuring proposals and awards are compliant with laws, regulations, policies, and terms and conditions. Assists faculty regarding instructions, policies, procedures, and electronic submission processes for applications. This role serves in the central office compliance and oversight function, serving as a resource to departmental faculty and staff and ancillary units in the development, preparation, and submission of grant and contract proposals (pre-award) and/or award set-up and monitoring, financial reporting, and project closeout activities (post-award).

Requirements

  • General knowledge and understanding of the administrative and compliance components of a proposal, including: interpretation and application of standard proposal requirements, terms, and conditions.
  • General knowledge of applicable federal, state, and other sponsor regulations related to sponsored programs, especially the OMB Uniform Guidance
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment, take ownership of the resolution of problems, be flexible and accountable, manage conflicting responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and consistently meet both internal and external deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both faculty and administrative staff and ancillary units involved in sponsored program administration.
  • Capability to work with all types of sponsored programs including training, public service, and basic science and clinical research.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving, and ability to prioritize multiple projects and responsibilities to meet deadlines.
  • Bachelor's degree is required, experience considered in lieu of a degree.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience in higher education and/or grant administration.
  • 2 plus years of grant administration experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies funding opportunities and reviews/distributes information regarding research funding.
  • Provides grant statistical information as requested.
  • Maintains pre-award proposal files and follows up with faculty on funding decisions for past submissions.
  • Maintains pending files up-to-date and dispose of old files for unfunded submissions.
  • Assists departmental faculty in the development, preparation, and submission of grant and contract proposals.
  • Schedules, prepares, and presents funding information at workshops.
  • Conducts preliminary review of grant proposals to ensure applications are in accurate and in compliance with agency and university guidelines and published timetables and deadlines.
  • Provides progress reports as needed.
  • Serves as the first point of contact for pre-award matters.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
