Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Basic English language proficiency (reading, writing, and verbal) is required
  • Simple arithmetic, weight, and/or measuring skills are required
  • High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent is preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of Dock Lead or Supervisor experience is required
  • Previous warehouse or similar experience is preferred
  • Forklift experience is required
  • Experience using tools and equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, dock carts, load locks, and dock plates is preferred
  • Experience in an LTL operation is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily dock operations to achieve results, ensuring safe and timely loading and unloading trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and handheld scanners to stage freight in the correct location
  • Assist the Outbound Supervisor in managing dock flow and overall operations
  • Train, direct, and coach dock employees to maintain safety standards and operational efficiency
  • Actively participate in accountability and disciplinary actions, including reporting concerns, preparing documentation, and issuing discipline as needed
  • Manage and verify the accuracy of paperwork, including delivery receipts, bills of lading, trailer manifests, and hazardous material shipments
  • Note and record exceptions in count or condition of shipments to minimize cargo claims
  • Regroup shipments as needed to ensure smooth workflow
  • Maintain availability to work various shifts during the week to accommodate business needs
  • Communicate in a positive and effective manner with customers, co-workers, and leadership
  • Perform other duties as assigned
