About The Position

The Outdoor Program Specialist will play a crucial role in developing and implementing engaging outdoor programs for youth within the Girl Scouts, Hornets' Nest Council. This position is designed to foster a love for nature, teamwork, and leadership skills among participants through hands-on experiences and activities. The specialist will be responsible for ensuring that all programs are safe, educational, and aligned with the Girl Scouts' mission and values. By collaborating with volunteers and community partners, the specialist will create a supportive environment that encourages personal growth and outdoor exploration. Ultimately, the goal is to inspire young girls to build confidence and resilience through outdoor adventures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Education, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience working with youth in an outdoor or educational setting.
  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities
  • Leadership skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Passion for the outdoors and environmental stewardship

  • Experience in program development and evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement outdoor programs that cater to various age groups and skill levels.
  • Conduct safety assessments and ensure compliance with all safety regulations during outdoor activities.
  • Train and support volunteers in facilitating outdoor programs and activities.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and gather feedback to continuously improve offerings.
  • Foster relationships with community organizations to enhance program resources and opportunities.
