About The Position

The Outdoor Sports Supervisor has a priority role as a model Outdoor Sports Guide with strengths in mastery of all guide-related techniques, protocols, systems, and processes. Must be able to perform dispatcher and desk duties, play a lead role in training and instruction of current guides and new hires, and be supervised by the Outdoor Sports Manager. Training - Supervises, develops and implements training programs for all guides. Supervises daily departures of all hikes & performs other job-related duties as directed. Hikes two to three times a week as a guide and/or field supervisor, and utilizes feedback in coaching colleagues. Primarily responsible for research, administering and documentation of training programs. Conducts in-house Practice Sessions for guides and new hire training. Protocols - Conduct debriefing sessions with guides after each activity. Demonstrate the knowledge and qualifications to run and instruct 90% or more of the activities ODS offers. When applicable assists in interviews for guide applicants. Communications - maintains ongoing communication with guide staff while exhibiting an integrated, professional demeanor with all aspects of guiding. Assists in the organization of monthly guide meetings, monthly staff workshops, and quarterly staff meetings Brand - Adheres to Canyon Ranch standards for guest service. Performs public relations with guests regarding the Hiking and Racquet Sports program Programming - Works closely with management in the creation and development and execution of new programming.

Requirements

  • Must have prior knowledge of position/industry (3-5 years previous experience in same or related field).
  • Associate degree or two-year equivalent specialized training or experience
  • Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record to meet Group A Driving Requirements.
  • CPR Certification
  • Current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or equivalent; or able to obtain or re-certify if not current.
  • Must have excellent ability to lead, communicate effectively and efficiently, be congenial to co-workers, guests, and the general public when guiding, and teach in a kind and friendly manner under stressful conditions.
