About The Position

As an Outside Plant Technician, you will design, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain fiber to the home outside plant, including fiber optic cables, taps and associated equipment. You will perform fusion fiber splicing, light testing, tap installation and/or replacements, installation, service and document data for our triple-play fiber, voice, and video services. Because you are knowledgeable about field services and network operations, you are able to troubleshoot effectively and efficiently. Maintaining our outside fiber plant is your top priority in order to minimize outages and provide reliable service to our customers. You are proactive about anticipating current and potential needs of our system and you are motivated to develop your own skills, which you achieve by attending regular team meetings and training. You feel great about helping our ISP company provide exceptional customer service for our customers!

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 - 2 years of experience with OTDR operation, light testing, fiber troubleshooting, and/or fiber plant design.
  • Have common knowledge of consumer computer equipment/router devices, telephone, TV and related home electronics.
  • Working knowledge of hand and power tools a must
  • Must be able to climb poles with hooks
  • Thorough knowledge of first-aid and CPR
  • Valid CDL Class A driver's license
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, or sit for prolonged periods of time as well as the ability to lift and carry over 75 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school training and/or certification and two or more years of experience with OTDR operation, light testing, fiber troubleshooting, and/or fiber plant design are preferred but not required.
