Overnight Marina Attendant
About The Position
Navy Pier Marina is located in the heart of downtown Chicago on Lake Michigan, offering boaters front-row access to the city skyline, Navy Pier attractions, fireworks, and the best of Chicago’s lakefront. We are seeking a responsible, dependable Overnight Marina Attendant to help ensure the safety, security, and smooth overnight operation of the marina. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working around the water, takes pride in responsibility, and can work independently while representing the marina with professionalism. The Overnight Marina Attendant is responsible for monitoring marina activity during overnight hours, assisting late-arriving boaters, maintaining dock safety, and ensuring marina facilities remain secure and clean. The attendant serves as the primary on-site representative of the marina overnight.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Reliable and able to work overnight shifts
- Comfortable working outdoors and around water
- Ability to work independently and responsibly
- Strong customer service skills
- Basic boating knowledge preferred but not required
- Ability to lift 40 lbs
- Ability to walk docks and marina property throughout shift

Responsibilities
- Monitor docks, gates, and marina facilities overnight
- Conduct periodic patrols of docks and marina property
- Ensure dock gates and access points remain secure
- Monitor for safety hazards, weather impacts, or unusual activity
- Report incidents, maintenance issues, or emergencies to management
- Communicate with Navy Pier Security
- Assist late arrivals and transient boaters with docking
- Provide professional customer service to marina guests
- Answer basic questions about marina amenities and pier access
- Ensure power pedestals and dock equipment are functioning properly
- Monitor vessel activity and dock conditions
- Assist with line handling when needed
- Maintain safe and orderly dock areas
- Keep docks and marina areas clean and orderly
- Monitor restrooms and facilities during overnight hours
- Report maintenance issues or supply needs
- Maintain overnight activity logs
- Communicate important updates to morning staff
- Coordinate with marina management when needed
