Summary: Our emergency shelter mission is to serve as a strategic safety net for the city by providing immediate, short-term, and dignified refuge for individuals and families in crisis-protecting life, meeting basic needs, sharing the Gospel at each point of care, and creating a clear bridge to appropriate next steps. The Guest Coordinator models Christ-centered hospitality while leading the day-to-day functions of the center. The Guest Coordinator is responsible for the guests in the building as well as keeping order throughout the shift. Duties/Responsibilities: Intentionally and strategically seek to exemplify Jesus Christ and be equipped and prepared to share the Gospel and provide spiritual support at each point of care; showing the love of Christ and biblical hospitality through each interaction. Provide leadership, mentorship and shepherding to the guests during assigned shifts through communication of the center routine and center guidelines. Participate and coordinate meal time and fellowship. Utilize this time to teach healthy interaction and servant leadership amongst our internal community. Be prepared to facilitate small group classes during assigned shifts that focus on the Gospel, spiritual wellness, leisure activities and healthy habits. Provide appropriate verbal and documented observations of guests directly to the center leadership. Monitor hygiene, shower and laundry routines. Assist in maintaining cleaning by leading team groups, teaching daily cleaning routines and using moments for ministry. Respond appropriately to emergency situations and be prepared to deescalate emotional and spiritual crisis situations. Conduct safety checks, PRAY formatted shift reports, shift changes, rounds and monitor the front entrance to the center; engaging guests and visitors with Biblical hospitality. Spend significant portions of assigned shift time with guests in a relational versus task oriented focus. Refer individuals to the program chaplains for spiritual distress and spiritual care. Assist guests in identifying next steps and connect them to appropriate services or case management when applicable. Attend scheduled meetings and training as required. Follow and enforce all Emergency Shelter policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned within scope of role. To be sober-minded, free from the influence of alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, or any substance that could cloud judgment or distract from a Christian-principled ministry. Professional Requirements: Able to clearly communicate and present the Gospel as opportunities during the work day arise (1 Pet. 2:21, 3:15).
