About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager to serve as the Owner’s Representative on a stormwater treatment facility construction project in Hutchinson MN. In this role, you will act as the Owner’s on-site safety advocate, overseeing contractors to ensure work is performed safely, in compliance with OSHA regulations, and aligned with project specifications. This is an oversight role, not a labor or maintenance position. You will work closely with contractors, engineers, and the plant’s Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team to maintain a safe jobsite and enforce safety standards.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Construction Safety, Occupational Safety, or related field AND 5+ years of construction safety management experience
  • OR
  • CHST certification (or equivalent) with 5+ years of construction safety management experience
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing construction site safety
  • Proven experience with excavation and trenching operations
  • Must qualify as a Competent Person per OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart P – Excavations
  • Experience conducting safety audits and inspections
  • Experience investigating and documenting incidents, accidents, and near misses
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Experience on industrial or utility infrastructure projects

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Owner’s on-site safety representative during construction activities
  • Ensure contractors comply with project safety requirements, OSHA standards, and permit procedures
  • Write, issue, and manage Owner-specific permits (hot work, confined space, excavation, etc.)
  • Work closely with the plant EHS team to align with site safety policies
  • Participate in and support safety orientations and training
  • Monitor excavation and trenching activities as the designated Competent Person
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and audits
  • Track and document safety incidents, near misses, and corrective actions
  • Stop work authority in situations that present imminent danger to life or health
  • Promote a strong safety culture and accountability across contractors
