About The Position

Life Unlimited. At Smith+Nephew we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living. The primary function of a Packaging Operator is to prepare (light assembly), clean, inspect, and package products in a controlled environment and/or other properly designated area such as a non-sterile packaging bench. This role may also include boxing and palletizing packaged products and preparing them for release as non-sterile or sterile. What will you be doing? This level position will be able to perform two or more product families/groups/cells. Performing includes productivity, quality, and collaboration (able to work with team). Must be able to comply with all governing rules including Smith and Nephew policies and procedures and adhere to safety and cleanliness practices in the workplace. This position requires an individual to participate within a team environment and require limited direction/supervision from a team coordinator, leader, supervisor, or manager. Complies with all health, safety and environmental policies, procedures, and job hazard assessments applicable to specified job activities including medical evaluations as required by job function. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Assemble and package medical products using but not limited to the following methods: Verify components for count, quantity, and revision. Clean components in preparation for packaging. Generate and affix labels to properly identify materials. Seal products using various heat-sealing machines and materials such as: Tyvek, mylar, PET, PEG, foil, non-sterile plastic, blister tray/pouch/packaging configurations, and/or form-fill-seal. Machines. Box and package product for shipment to sterilizer. Perform other related duties as follows: Assist in the training of lesser skilled employees. Work with quality/materials group to help trim, sort components and perform rework as needed. Other related duties as assigned. Complete and understand documentation needed to comply with company policies, Quality Manual and procedures including but not limited to: FDA, QSR and various domestic and international standards and regulations. Company policies and procedures. Perform work transactions and bar code scanning (where applicable). Work in a team environment using the following skills: Communication both by verbal and written means. Listening, collaborating, and getting along with others. Participating and collaborating in continuous improvement process activities.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Entry level position with little or no prior relevant training or work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and hands on experience with SAP, GMP and inspections in a regulated environment.
