About The Position

Opal Foods is adding to the team with a great opportunity for a Packaging Buyer. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Packaging Buyer will track, manage and order all packaging materials for the locations assigned to them.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Demonstrated ability to work independently
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task
• Effective team skills
• Effective communication skills towards all levels of the organization
• Professional and courteous approach to interacting with customers and internal stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data and make effective decisions based on data provided
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Must be proficient in use of Excel spreadsheets
• Demonstrated ability to effectively speak, read, and write in English

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Previous experience in the commercial egg industry preferred
• Previous experience in purchasing or procurement related roles preferred

Responsibilities

• Monitor ordering and storage of inventory for assigned plants
• Work with receiving department managers to ensure necessary items are in stock
• Assist/schedule delivery appointments for incoming packaging loads for plants assigned
• Maintain packaging calendars for plants assigned
• Constantly working to reduce warehousing costs
• Work with Sales and Customer Service to accurately forecast future packaging needs
• Maintain and implement comprehensive policies and procedures for inventory control to manage the flow of supplies and merchandise
• Serve as backup for Procurement Manager
• Other duties and projects may be assigned based on company needs.
