About The Position

The Packaging Lead is responsible for working with the packaging team to keg and can all of Uinta’s world-class products. This role has expert knowledge in one or more areas of the packaging process. Provides leadership without direct supervision. The Packaging Lead executes the daily production goals while maintaining efficiencies and quality standards. This role will step in for the Packaging Manager when necessary.

Requirements

  • Applicant must be 21 or over to apply
  • Previous packaging experience required.
  • Thorough understanding of all packaging lines – kegging, canning.
  • Advanced production line skills and knowledge – ability to apply knowledge and skills to unusual or complex production problems.
  • Advanced competency in all pieces of equipment on the production lines.
  • Forklift operating experience required.
  • Understanding of the brewing process including brite tank and carbonation.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently to package quality beer according to Uinta’s standards and procedures, including quality and quantity requirements.
  • Ability to provide advanced preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated and assists in providing direction and coaching others.
  • Effectively give and receive feedback. Offer new ideas and lead initiatives to help implement them
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds. Ability to crouch, bend, twist and stand for extended periods of time in a warehouse environment.
  • Organization skills including attention to detail.
  • Data entry and Excel skills.
  • Analytical mathematical skills and ability to complete forms and write instructions.
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety standards.
  • Sensory skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform packaging operations at canning and kegging.
  • Works on assignments that are complex in nature, where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required and where judgment is required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
  • Lead the start-up of the packaging line or keg line.
  • Considered an expert in packaging and a leader for the packaging team.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the department.
  • Drive expectations to keep work area organized for efficient operation.
  • Actively anticipate needs and troubleshoot potential problems before they arise.
  • Conduct daily packaging material inventory counts to determine materials used.
  • Coordinate with the packaging and scheduling manager when changes arise.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Participate in working interview process with new packaging team candidates.
  • Participate and lead in training.
  • Additional duties assigned in various functions of the brewery as needed.
