NOW is the time to join The Better Food Company!! The position of Lead Machine Operator is responsible for the operation of equipment to package food products. They maintain the packaging machine within acceptable tolerances, maintains ongoing production to achieve schedule goals and while keeping raw and packaging material scrap and downtime as low as possible, and performs product changeovers.

Requirements

Prior machine operating experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
Prior Leadership experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively – verbally & written – to and work well with Team Members, Management, Customers & Vendors.
Basic mechanical aptitude, working knowledge of manufacturing equipment operation and good math skills are required.
Ability to read & interpret written & verbal direction while working in a safe, effective & productive manner within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Practices integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement and positive interactions with all Team Members and visitors.
Records all information as required.
Sets up machine prior to shift start up.
Operates packaging machine/equipment in accordance with Safety standards, specifications and instruction.
Ensures packaging materials are correct, in specification and properly positioned in the machine and changes materials as needed.
Monitors and adjusts weight control of packaged units and ensures codes are accurate and correct in format.
Maintains standard production quantities/rates for each product.
Replenishes packaging supplies such as film, boxes, cartons, glue, ink or labels.
Monitors machine operation to detect malfunctions; makes minor adjustments/repairs; communicates mechanical problems to maintenance.
Mounts supplies on spindles or places supplies in hoppers or other feeding devices.
Provides training for others as needed.
Coordinates information and equipment with Machine Operator and Utility positions to prior and next shifts Leads & Operators and other dept.
Fills in for and assists other Machine Operators and Utilities when necessary.
Regular Attendance is required in accordance with Company attendance policy and procedures.
Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned by Lead and Management
Complete initial/annual training to ensure the individual is properly qualified (QI) to perform all required job tasks as outlined in training programs/records.
