About The Position

Reporting directly to the Shift Supervisor, the Packer I is responsible for supporting finishing department operations by packaging product to specification, identifying nonconforming material, assisting production flow, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. Employees in this role are expected to perform all duties assigned by management, whether specifically listed or not.

Requirements

• mechanical aptitude
• able to lift and move heavy objects
• able to place cards into corrugated boxes (approximately 1–2 lbs depending on card size and stack)
• able to push at chest height (8–45 lbs)
• able to pull at waist height (5–10 lbs)
• able to reach/stretch 20 inches while holding approximately 5 lbs
• able to handle cases ranging from 8 lbs to 45 lbs depending on product size and quantity
• able to stand for 8+ hours per day
• able to work in indoor manufacturing conditions including heat, humidity, and production noise

Nice To Haves

• at least 6 months of packing experience (preferred)
• comfortable handling complex issues and production challenges

Responsibilities

• Package product to meet all specified requirements
• Ensure all nonconforming material is segregated, properly identified, and stacked together
• Report all unidentified non-conformances
• Support Gluers as a packer/inspector
• Place stacks of cards into gluer feed table and/or catch glued product and place into cases
• Communicate and interact positively with other departments
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, including completion of sweep sheets at the end of each shift
• Follow all safety and operational procedures
