About The Position

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Packer at our Wellsville, PA location. The Packer visually inspects and packs extrusions utilizing bands, plastic, cardboard, paper and/or shrink wrap in various sized bundles per customer specifications.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience is required.
• 1 to 2 years of shipping or warehouse experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers
• Ability to use measuring devices such as tape measures or rulers
• Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
• Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
• Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available
• Regular attendance

Responsibilities

• Repetitively lifts aluminum extrusions of lengths up to forty feet and weighing up to seventy-five pounds from metal basket carriers to packing conveyor.
• Gathers all materials needed for framing bundles, such as but not limited to: tape, stretch wrap cardboard, paper, banding, etc.
• Visually inspects metal while forming bundles looking for burrs, scratches, chips, gouges, dents, bubbles, die lines, etc.
• Ensures all pieces meet or exceed customer specifications.
• Contacts foreman, supervisor, or inspector when materials are questionable.
• Assembles bundles per foreman’s instructions utilizing packing materials to meet customer specifications.
• Assists and/or operates cut back saw station and acts as saw helper at the press.
• Lifts metal from racks and returns to racks after cutting.
• Ensures all cuts are made to meet customer specifications.
• Records appropriate piece count or weigh count daily and records time it takes to pack a bundle.
• Pushes wheeled baskets into or out of workstation.
• Carries scrap metal to scrap cart.
• Maintains a neat and orderly work area and assists with general housekeeping of the Shipping area.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
