About The Position

The Senior Paralegal serves as an experienced legal professional who provides advanced legal and administrative support to the legal team in managing a broad range of healthcare, corporate, and operational matters for Memorial Health. This role operates with significant independence and provides mentorship and informal leadership to other paralegals in legal operations. The Senior Paralegal supports the legal team by providing document review and management, contract review and administration, litigation coordination, investigations, research tasks, and workflow coordination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field required
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of paralegal experience
  • Experience in a healthcare setting or law firm
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage complex legal projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with legal team and enterprise stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Paralegal certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities

  • Format, proofread, and prepare legal documents with a high degree of accuracy, ensuring consistency with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other paralegals, supporting skill development, knowledge sharing, and consistent application of legal department processes.
  • Manage high‑volume, complex document workflows, ensuring timely processing, accurate version control, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate document collection and organization for investigations and litigation, ensuring timely retrieval, proper categorization, secure handling, and readiness for attorney review or external production.
  • Conduct legal and regulatory research, summarize findings, and prepare reference materials for attorney review.
  • Independently draft, review, and revise contracts with attorney guidance, ensuring accuracy, alignment with organizational standards, and compliance with applicable laws and healthcare regulations.
  • Assist attorneys with enterprise transactions, including due diligence, document preparation, coordination with internal stakeholders, and management of transaction-related workflows.
  • Collaborate with outside counsel on litigation and transactional matters, facilitating information exchange, coordinating document production, supporting strategy development, and ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and timelines.
  • Monitor and track key deadlines, such as litigation timelines, contract renewals, regulatory reporting dates, and board-related deliverables.
  • Assist with preparation of board materials and corporate governance documents, and support corporate recordkeeping as directed.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to attorneys and other senior members of the team, including scheduling, correspondence, and meeting coordination.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional partners such as Compliance, Contracts, Human Resources, Information Services, Internal Audit, Privacy, and Risk Management to support enterprise-wide legal needs.
  • Participate in departmental projects and continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to process optimization, workflow enhancements, and best‑practice development.
  • Participate in legal operations, budgeting support, and process improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and strengthen department workflows.
  • Occasional travel to affiliate sites and meetings required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
