About The Position

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, the Paralegal provides support to the organization’s Legal Department in furtherance of the organization’s cultural, artistic and educational mission. The Paralegal will primarily support all attorneys of the Legal Department and assist in legal operations. In doing so, the Paralegal will also interact with Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts colleagues across all departments and other Lincoln Center community members to meet the varied legal needs of a complex, multi-faceted organization, and drive Lincoln Center’s strategic objectives. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, systematic and analytical thinker, proactive team player, and resourceful problem solver, with excellent organizational skills, superb judgment, common sense, outstanding writing and communications skills, strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities in a timely manner, the ability to work efficiently and meticulously in a fast-paced environment, and a desire to learn.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least one year of experience as a paralegal, focusing on contract management, or equivalent experience.
  • Enthusiasm for organizing and creating efficiencies.
  • Familiarity with legal operations and terminology and the format of legal documents.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, including SharePoint. Must be willing to learn and work with new computer programs and technology and be able to facilitate conversations with the IT department to troubleshoot systems.
  • Document organization/management systems experience.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to problem-solving, and an ability to thrive on challenges and react promptly and positively to a fast-paced work culture.
  • Ability to manage and follow through on different tasks simultaneously and efficiently.
  • Demonstrated high integrity and a strong work ethic.
  • Experience dealing with highly confidential information with professionalism and absolute discretion.

Nice To Haves

  • Non-profit and/or in-house experience is a plus.
  • Being a notary is a plus (or willingness to obtain a notary license).
  • Appreciation and enthusiasm for the arts is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain efficient organization of document and data management systems within the Legal Department, including databases for contracts, policies, filings, and governance records.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge management and tracking systems.
  • Execute edits for standard contract templates, check for consistency between key provisions across templates, and generate first drafts of contracts from templates.
  • Assist with document preparation, including formatting documents, preparing documents for signature, running comparisons, and converting documents to Microsoft Word.
  • Coordinate, track, and assist in the preparation of various government registrations, payments, insurance renewals, and other filings and reports, collaborating with other departments as needed.
  • Support routine projects, including drafting, reviewing, performing due diligence and research, and transmitting legal correspondence and documents.
  • Provide administrative and project management support for Legal Department initiatives, including the Legal Intern and summer programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
