About The Position

Schedule PRN: PRN staff are required to work no less than one 12-hour shift per month after orientation. Orientation should plan to no less than 1-2 shifts a week. General Summary Responds to EMS calls and performs a variety of functions related to the care and treatment of patients suffering from urgent and emergent disease and/or injury states in accordance with appropriate rules, regulations, and protocols. according to PA DOH EMS Act and scope of practice.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year In busy 911 system.
  • Certified Paramedic Upon Hire Required or Certified Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire Required
  • Ped Adv Life Support Upon Hire Required
  • Must possess a valid driver's license in the current state of residence. Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.
  • Medical Command Authorization Upon Hire Required
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course (EVOC) Upon Hire Required
  • National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 700, 800 – Hazardous Materials Awareness Upon Hire Required
  • Emergency Medical Services Vehicle Operator (EMSVO) Upon Hire Required

Responsibilities

  • Responds to EMS calls, observes safety policies, and operates an emergency vehicle with due regard for others.
  • Prepares, hangs, monitors, and administers I.V. fluids.
  • Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members.
  • Prepares patients for scheduled procedures and assists in patient assessment.
  • Responds to emergency calls as a single Advanced Life Support Provider
  • Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population.
  • Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment.
  • Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor, and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
