About The Position

SUMMARY: The hourly Special Education Paraprofessional pay rate to work on assignment in Newport School District is $18/hour 5 days of Paid Time Off (prorated based on hire date) The Special Education Paraprofessional will work on student days following the academic calendar year Special Education Paraprofessionals will support students in one of the following areas: Autistic, Emotional, Instructional, Learning, and Life Skills CURRENT SPECIAL ED PARAPROFESSIONAL NEEDS: ELEMENTARY: Newport Elementary School Kindergarten Paraprofessional (1), 8:00am - 3:00pm, 30-minute unpaid lunch break, 6.5 paid hours/day

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • With less than 2 years post secondary, must pass for "highly qualified" as mandated by NCLB
  • PA Child Abuse (Act 151) Clearance
  • PA Criminal (Act 34) Clearance
  • PA Department of Education FBI
  • TB Screening - current within 3 months
  • Education Documentation - Diploma OR Official Transcripts

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Bachelors Degree - preferred
  • Prior public-school experience and/or working with school-aged children in a licensed, certified, or registered provider setting - preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional, behavioral, and/or physical assistance to an individual student or a small group of students - including, but not limited to: on-task prompting, facilitating social skills, and self-care skills
  • Work with students on organizational skills, guide students in activities, monitor student progress
  • Directly support students at the direction of classroom teacher and building Principal
