Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Parent Educator (PE) will recruit families throughout San Joaquin County and conduct home visitations to educate families on the well-being of a child. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Adheres to El Concilio California policies and procedures per the agency employee manual. Conduct outreach through agency or community events with the purpose of program recruitment and potential future enrollments. Build and maintain relationships with local agencies, community clinics, schools, libraries, and community centers in order to promote program referrals. Parent Educators will target outreach opportunities in the following zip codes: 95204, 95205, 95206, 95219, 95220, 95242, 95258, 95304, 95377, and 95391. Collaborate with CalWORKs Employment Training Specialist for potential referrals. Generate assessments to determine the need of all families with children ages 0-5 year Document all referrals and assistance provided to families in the database and client files/records. Provide comprehensive developmental and mental health screening using the Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) system for children served in the program. Become familiar with programs/services that may include California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs), Women, Infant, and Children (WIC), CalFresh, food subsidy programs, community awareness, public outreach, and education on issues related to children and their families. Document all referrals and assistance provided to families in the database and client files/records. Recommend and assist parents/guardians with referrals for further assistance when scores indicate a possible developmental delay, behavioral, or mental health concern. Maintain a caseload of 17-20 program participants residing in the targeted zip codes. Contact clients three times per month, consisting of two home visits and one telephone, text, or email. Follow outreach-home visitation safety protocols per El Concilio California and First 5. Abide by the program’s entrance and exit policies for all program participants. Administer Raising A Reader (RAR) program to children and their families to promote early literacy skills, shared book experience, and family engagement. Coordinate Group Connections that address one or more the following areas: parent-child interaction, development centered parenting family well-being promotion of self-sufficiency enhanced job search/job readiness Help with job search and job readiness skills by providing guidance and support to parents/guardians within the program. Assist program participants with the completion of any formal documentation that will provide access to resources, such as housing, education, transportation, clothing, food, employment, etc. Attend meetings with probation and county officials based on program related purposes. Required to attend First 5 and/or El Concilio California trainings throughout the weekday and weekends as needed. Assist Program Manager and Lead with the introduction and training of new Parent Educators. Screen and issue Material Goods & Supplies to families related to the care, health, and safety of the child and family. Maintain professional relationship with all program participants and El Concilio California personnel. Required to work El Concilio California special events and meetings. Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and administration.
