About The Position

Are you someone who has overcome the challenges of the child welfare system and wants to use your experience to help others? At NorthCare, we’re looking for compassionate, resilient individuals with firsthand experience navigating Oklahoma Human Services (OHS) Child Welfare to join us as Parent Partners. You'll become a beacon of hope and a mentor to parents currently involved in the juvenile courts and OHS Child Welfare, offering guidance, advocacy, and shared experience to empower families on their journey toward reunification.

Requirements

  • Must have prior involvement with OHS Child Welfare and at least one year since case closure.
  • Able to build trust, communicate effectively, and foster positive relationships.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to meet families’ needs.
  • Proficient with MS Word and able to use Outlook for scheduling and communication.
  • Willing to travel locally with reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and current auto insurance.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Therapeutic Options certifications (or willingness to obtain within 30 days).
  • Commitment to working with diverse populations in culturally sensitive ways.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer candidates with a Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) certification or willingness to obtain one within 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hope and encouragement to parents through shared experiences.
  • Assist parents in working toward safely and quickly reuniting with their children.
  • Attend family team meetings, court hearings, and other gatherings, ensuring parents’ perspectives are represented.
  • Promote collaboration between parents, foster families, and Child Welfare staff.
  • Help parents access services, develop community support systems, and navigate their Individualized Services Plan (ISP).
  • Share your story in a supportive manner, demonstrating that change is possible.
