About The Position

A position has been declared open in the Weber School District for a temporary part-time Parent Support & Transition Special Education (SpEd) Paraeducator. This position is for 5.75 hours per day (or its weekly 28.75-hour aggregate equivalent), 180 days (9 months) per year and is compensated according to Lane 4(B) of the Paraprofessionals Salary Schedule . This position is funded for the current school year. There is no guarantee of continued employment beyond that period. Applicants shall apply online at wsd.schoolspring.com . THIS POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED, AFTER A MINIMUM OF 5 WORKING DAYS Responsibilities This role requires a proactive individual who can bridge the gap between school, home, and community agencies. With guidance from teachers and admin, para will serve as a primary point of contact to help families navigate and complete enrollments for post-secondary supports, including Guardianship, Vocational Rehabilitation, and DSPD. Flexibility & Collaboration: Participating in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and working with the school teams to implement the School Success Plan. Duties & Essential/Primary Functions Transition Coordination: Assist in organizing and executing Parent Nights; provide step-by-step assistance to parents during enrollment clinics for outside agencies. Communication Management: Create and distribute school-to-home communications, such as newsletters, social media spotlights, and flyers for school events. Behavioral Data Tracking: Implement and document Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS); log and track behavioral data using the Panorama system to ensure fidelity to the school-wide behavior plan. IEP & File Maintenance: Maintain student files and records for documenting activities; ensure that transition-related information is accurately reflected in Annual IEPs. Community Integration: Train and support students in accessing community resources, including public transportation and job site interviews. Bridging Relationships: Working with outside agencies that support students with disability by building connections so information can flow freely between student, parents and staff. This position may require other job duties as assigned. Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. Attendance to work is an essential job function Other Duties Collect data regularly regarding skills across developmental domains Collect data on programs delivered 1:1 using Discrete Trial Teaching Under the direction of the classroom teacher, instruct students regarding developing peer interactions and social skills Utilize safe and appropriate procedures when managing students with challenging behavior Administer assistance to medically fragile children Implement positive behavior supports, behavior plans, and interventions as needed Develop and maintain effective working relationships with preschool teams Communicate effectively verbally and in writing Remain flexible with changes in assignments and situations Relate to special needs students in a positive and confident manner Organize work, problem solve, and select action plans Attend to details and follow tasks through to completion Monitor student behavior and make quick, effective decisions Remain calm in crisis situations Work independently with minimal supervision Exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality Demonstrate professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. Conform to district policies including attendance, absences and evaluations

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Special Education rules and regulations and the Least Restrictive Behavior Interventions (LRBI) manual is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in data entry and the ability to learn school-specific platforms like Panorama, RISE benchmarks, and Acadience.
