About The Position

We are currently seeking a full-time Park Manager I to oversee the operations at Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Site. Wickliffe Mounds is home to the preservation of an ancient Mississippian archeological site which dates to A.D. 1100-1350. Since opening in 1932, the museum has displayed prehistoric artifacts excavated onsite, including pottery and stone tools that offer a glimpse into the distant past of Native American cultures along the Mississippi. Wickliffe Mounds has a museum, welcome center, gift shop, trails, and picnic areas. The park is located along the Great River Road National Scenic Byway and along the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Route. The Park Manager’s responsibility at Wickliffe Mounds includes: Understand the relationship, history, and respect for tribes represented by the artifacts at the park. Act as a steward of the park’s natural, cultural and biological resources. Be able to provide educational programming for guests and groups. Oversight of all buildings and grounds. Supervision and hiring of staff. Show fiscal responsibility for the park’s budget. Perform in a professional manner with all guests, community and public interactions. Requirements

  • EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of business, administrative or management experience.
  • Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional related experience will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 20 years and one day of age at time of employment. Must obtain S.T.A.R. (Server Training in Alcohol Regulations) certification from the Kentucky Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control within six months of employment. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
