About The Position

Bear Creek Lake State Park is accepting applications for a Park Ranger Maintenance position. As the Park Ranger Maintenance, you will join an exceptional team and be responsible for supervising maintenance operations to ensure facilities and grounds are safe and meet current standards. In this position, you will: Maintain, improve, and protect park facilities, grounds, systems, resources, vehicles, and equipment by performing and supervising maintenance projects. Use skills in a variety of trades, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, landscaping, small engine repair, vehicle, and equipment repair. Supervise and coach wage employees, volunteers, and alternative labor in the successful performance of these operations. Provide user safety and satisfaction by providing clean, safe, and well-maintained facilities and grounds; providing good information to guests; and assisting with guest services. Requirements

  • Skilled in the use of a computer and various software programs.
  • Skilled in determining work methods to be used and assigning work.
  • Knowledge in maintenance of buildings, grounds, facilities, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in plumbing, carpentry, painting, and groundskeeping.
  • Experienced in evaluating work performed by others.
  • Skilled in public relations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally or in writing.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks within a given time frame.
  • Ability to work effectively without immediate supervision.
  • A valid Driver's License is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Considerable experience in maintenance to include grounds care, facilities, buildings, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Considerable knowledge and ability in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, small equipment, and vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Experience in supervising staff in a maintenance atmosphere.
  • Previous work experience within parks and/or recreation or a similar environment.

  • DCR classified, retired, and wage staff (after six months of service) are entitled to overnight facility discounts, such as:
  • Free camping outside of the Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day period in sites designed for up to six people.
  • Free camping Sunday night through Thursday night (excluding the night before a holiday) from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
  • Fifty percent discount on cabins (up to 3 bedrooms) outside of Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, for a maximum of 14 nights. All reservations require a two-night minimum. Bunkhouses, camping cabins, and yurts are included; one-night yurt stays only receive a 25% discount.
