About The Position

Works under the Morgantown Parking Enforcement Superintendent, shift leader, and Parking Authority Director to enforce city parking codes. Work is reviewed for compliance during tasks and upon completion. The Enforcement Officer also works with the Maintenance Superintendent to maintain parking lots and garages. Daily responsibilities include cleaning lots, garages, and sidewalks, and clearing snow and ice during winter.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Requires general computer knowledge.
  • Requires the ability to operate multiple smartphone enforcement applications.
  • Requires the ability to understand and act on oral instructions.
  • Requires possession of a valid State of West Virginia class D driver's license.
  • Requires knowledge of safe work standards.
  • Requires the ability to pass a background check.
  • Promotes an image of professional, courteous service as a representative of the Morgantown Parking Authority who frequently interacts with the general public, business owners, and other city departments.
  • Requires an individual to have strong communication and public relations skills with the ability to handle dissatisfied customers and patrons.
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • Customer service experience, including de-escalation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing through email.
  • Requires the ability to walk a minimum of four miles per shift.
  • Requires the ability to lift, unaided, objects weighing as much as fifty-one (51) pounds.
  • Employee spends an average of eight (8) to twelve (12) hours per shift working outdoors.
  • Daily conditions encountered are noise, dirt, odors, dust, fumes, vibration, wind, rain, snow, etc.
  • Wears all PPE required and follows all safety policies.
  • Constant hazards: Danger from passing traffic, mechanical hazards when using heavy equipment, and entering confined spaces.
  • Occasional hazards: Tripping or slipping due to terrain and weather conditions, traffic accidents when working to remove snow and ice.
  • Possible hazards : Risks associated with working on narrow roads and steep grades and various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Issue parking tickets throughout the City of Morgantown for violations of city parking ordinances.
  • Boots or tows vehicles with outstanding parking tickets.
  • Communicate with the Morgantown Police Department and Police Dispatch.
  • Clean lots and garages.
  • Maintain garage gate equipment, pay stations, and multi-space meters.
  • Communicate equipment problems in writing to the Enforcement Superintendent.
  • Snow/Ice Removal: Treat city parking facilities using snow and ice removal equipment, including manual salt spreader, shovel, utility vehicle with a broom, or other attachment (may operate a truck with plow and spreader, along with other snow removal equipment if qualified).
  • Performs duties assigned by the Enforcement Superintendent or Parking Authority Director orally or in writing in a timely fashion.
  • Other duties as assigned.
