About The Position

This position is responsible for grounds maintenance and cleaning and light maintenance at the county’s parks and public accesses.

Requirements

• 18 years of age at time of hire.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Successfully pass a pre-placement screen, contingent upon job offer.
• Knowledge: Hand and power tools, mowers.
• Adhere to all laws, statutes, policies and rules with the essential level of confidentiality and safety required of the position.
• Skills: Proficient in using automated systems relevant to the position.
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all stakeholders relevant to the position.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, accuracy, and problem solving.
• Abilities: Operate truck and trailer combination, and if eligible and assigned operate commercial motor vehicle.
• Operate large, zero-turn lawn mowers.
• Operate power and hand tools common to ground maintenance (string trimmers, chainsaws, rakes, shovels, etc.).
• Operate hand and power tools for light maintenance work.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Follow established procedures and directives from supervisors.

Nice To Haves

• Commercial driver’s license (CDL) – Class A.

Responsibilities

• Perform grounds maintenance at the three county parks, public works facilities in Park Rapids and Nevis, two wayside rests, 18 public accesses (i.e. including mowing, trimming and edging.
• Clean restrooms and restock supplies.
• Pick up and remove trash, reinstall liners in trash cans.
• Clear sidewalks, picnic shelters and parking areas of grass clippings and other debris.
• Assist in the installation and removal of public water access docks.
• Inspect recreational equipment (i.e. playground equipment, athletic field facilities, docks, piers, etc.) and perform necessary repair, etc.).
• Conduct routine maintenance on lawn mowers and other power equipment (i.e. oil changes, blade sharpening etc.).
• Perform light maintenance/repairs on recreational facilities (i.e. repair/replace broken or missing parts, painting, vandalism repair, etc.).
