Part-Time Custodian (TEMPORARY – by Invitation Only) This position is responsible for custodial cleaning for portions of the assigned buildings, assisting Area/Building Managers in leading student crews, and inspecting work levels and effectiveness of custodial cleaning. This is a temporary position and will be terminated on May 1st, 2026.
Requirements
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
- Worked for BYU Building Operations before – by invitation only.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work and be part of a team.
- Must have regular and consistent attendance at scheduled shift.
- Able to work with potentially hazardous chemicals independently.
- Ability to work independently and in a small team.

Responsibilities
- Perform weekday routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting in assigned building, restrooms, hallways, and common areas.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles and replace liners.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors.
- Refill restroom supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.
- Report maintenance issues such as leaks, burned-out lights, or broken fixtures.
- Maintain custodial equipment in clean and working condition; report repairs as needed.
- Handle strong chemicals used for deep cleaning that require extreme care, always following PPE protocols and use standards.
- Follow proper safety procedures when using cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Respond promptly and courteously to staff or supervisor requests.
- Work effectively in stressful situations both independently and as part of a team to meet strict deadlines.
- Maintain a professional and respectful attitude while working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
