About The Position

Purpose The Nurse Practitioner provides compassionate medical and psychiatric care that supports the healing mission of The Heritage Community. Through assessment, treatment, and collaboration with the clinical team, the NP supports each student's physical and emotional wellbeing. This role focuses on both immediate medical needs and long-term health and growth. Key Responsibilities Provide psychiatric and medical care to students, including assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning. Prescribe and monitor medications, ensuring accurate documentation and follow-up. Collaborate with therapists, nurses, and interdisciplinary treatment teams. Respond to urgent medical or mental health concerns with clinical expertise and steady support. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to treatment planning. Educate students and families about diagnoses, medications, and long-term wellness strategies.

Requirements

  • Master's or Doctorate in Nursing required.
  • Licensed APRN with prescriptive authority in Utah.
  • Minimum of 2 years providing psychiatric or primary care to adolescents.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and psychotropic medications.
  • Strong clinical judgment and crisis response skills.
  • Excellent documentation and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm, reliable, and emotionally steady in high-pressure situations.
  • This position requires the ability to perform duties associated with direct patient care in a clinical and residential setting, including:
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Lifting or moving patients or supplies up to 50 pounds.
  • Performing repetitive hand and arm movements for charting and medical care.
  • Responding quickly to emergency situations.
  • Maintaining alertness during extended shifts, including evenings or weekends.
  • Using personal protective equipment (PPE) when exposed to bodily fluids, chemicals, or biohazards.
  • This role operates within a residential treatment center and includes work in exam rooms, nursing stations, and residential units.
  • Staff regularly interact with students experiencing acute mental health challenges and must maintain professionalism, emotional stability, and trauma-informed care in high-stress situations.

  • Experience in residential or behavioral health settings preferred.
