About The Position

Come join our diverse and thriving Pastry Baking Team in Novato! RUSTIC BAKERY has been making and serving organic handmade baked goods since 2005. We operate five popular cafes in Marin and have a wholesale production division making flatbread crackers, cookies and crisps in Petaluma. We strive for locally sourced ingredients of the highest quality when making our products and the same goes for our people. We're looking for individuals with a love of artisan products, who want to bring their very best and be part of a fresh baked, locally sourced, fast rising company. The duties for this position are preparing and baking pastry products according to Rustic Bakery formulas. Monitors for quality to ensure all items meet Rustic Bakery standards.

  • Ability to safely operate all bakery equipment including oven, stove, mixer, sheeter, and knives
  • Available to work Mon-Fri 3:00am-11:30am or 5:00am-1:30pm
  • Weekends and holiday availability is required
  • 1 year of bakery experience

Responsibilities

  • Follows all food safety preparation and handling requirements including established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health department requirements.
  • Ensures Bakery area is kept clean, neat, and organized.
  • Works alongside and shares in the daily duties of the other bakery staff.
  • Follows proper timekeeping procedures including clocking in at the beginning of each work period, clocking out on time for meal periods, and at the end of each shift.
  • Promotes teamwork and a safe, productive work environment.
  • Follows bakery standard operating procedures and adheres to the daily production plan.
  • Understands and follows all safety policies and practices.
  • Reports to work on time and adheres to all uniform standards.
  • Observes color of products being baked and adjusts oven temperatures or time accordingly.
  • Performs equipment cleaning as necessary and reports broken or malfunctioning equipment immediately to the supervisor.
  • Monitors for quality and consistency of finished product including, size, weight, sanitation, temperatures and identifies damaged or non-conforming goods. Minimizes waste.
  • Assists with other bakery duties as needed.
