Pathology Lab Assistant (Medical Lab), Pathology
About The Position
Responsible for processing samples for Laboratory analysis, verifying test completion in the Laboratory computer system, and providing laboratory processing support to Surgical Pathology. Distributes microscopic slides and reports Prepares tissue samples for routine microscopic analysis and stains tissue for Routine, Special Stains, and Immunofluorescence, as requested. Maintains and operates laboratory equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and procedures. Demonstrates advanced problem solving/troubleshooting skills. Maintains a positive and professional work environment. Performs laboratory test procedure.
Requirements
- Education: Associate's degree in related sciences OR completion of an accredited Medical Lab Assistant Career Study Certificate (MLA CSC) or certified MLA(ASCP) program required.
- Experience: 2 years relevant experience required with either an Associate’s degree or one of the following: MLA CSC, certified MLA(ASCP) or PBT(ASCP) certifications; 5 years relevant experience required in lieu of degree or certification program.
- Licensure: None required.
